Why a Summer Bag Lunch Program The Food Action & Research Center reports that only 13.9 out of every 100 kids who qualify for free or reduced lunch in school, access the Summer Nutritional Program over the summer months.
Many children are unable to reach the schools or our kitchen for a nutritious lunch because their parents are at work or simply lack transportation. We at Angels & Sparrows refuse to allow our children to go hungry over the summer months.
This year theAngels & Sparrows Summer Bag Lunch Program will run between June 2nd and August 20th. We take our nutritious meals directly to the neighborhoods where our children are so that they can safely access them regardless of the challenges the family may be facing.
How You Can Help
Donate from our immediate needs list. We will use these items to supplement the lunches we provide.
Assistance with delivery of meals to neighborhoods Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday mornings.
Be on the lookout for fresh items we will request as the program begins. It is important our children receive healthy vegetables and snacks in their lunch. Those items will include things like: baby carrots, cucumbers, grapes, apples, etc.

Did You Know Thirty-two percent (32%) of food insecure children have at least one chronic health condition such as asthma, diabetes, problems with hearing, vision, and speech. Unless we interrupt the Cycle of Food Insecurity, this means that as adults they are 46% more likely to have asthma, 75% more likely to have high blood pressure, 83% more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes and 125% more likely to have experienced a stroke or heart attack, and 40% more likely to be diagnosed with heart disease. What you do matters! Interventions today affect outcomes later in life.
Angels & Sparrows serves a nourishing lunch, Monday through Friday 11 am-1 pm, year round to anyone who needs our help.
